Boys' basketball

Trinity-Fayetteville 63, Wayne Country Day 44

* FAYETTEVILLE -- Deshar Thomas sizzled the nets for a team-high 17 points in Wayne Country Day's 63-44, season-ending loss to Trinity Christian of Fayetteville in the opening round of the N.C. Independent Schools Athletic Association Class 1-A boys' basketball playoffs Tuesday evening.

Senior Brandon McCarter scored 14 points in his final outing. It was also the last game for fellow seniors Douglas Williams, Aaron Forde and Hil Tanner.

The Chargers concluded the year 10-15 overall.

Swimming

Gentry, Darden compete

* GREENSBORO -- Wayne Christian's Danielle Gentry recorded a personal-best time in the 100-yard freestyle during the season-ending NCISAA 1-A/2-A swimming championships contested at the Greensboro Aquatic Center.

Gentry touched the wall in 1 minute, 11.56 seconds. She logged a time of 31.65 seconds in the 50 free.

Senior Chase Darden won his respective heats with personal-best marks in the 50 free (26.29) and 100 free (1:00.81). Darden ended up 12th overall in the 50 free and 21st overall in the 100.

"This was a great first season for Wayne Christian, and I am so proud of what they accomplished," said WCS head coach Shelly Anderson.
