RALEIGH -- Rosewood logged 17 individual victories and finished 1-2 during the dual-team portion of the Friday Night Matness hosted by Athens Drive High School on Friday evening.
The Eagles racked up nine individual triumphs in a 54-24 against the host Jaguars. They combined to win just eight individual bouts in losses to Durham Jordan (63-16) and Northwest Guilford (51-27).
Junior Nick Quillen climbed to 48-0 this season with a major decision, pin and forfeit on the day. Quillen has 101 career pins -- the most of any grappler in school and Wayne County history.
Josh Drew pinned all three opponents on the night.
Senior 189-pounder Taylor McGill and junior 113-pounder Angel Jaramillo collected two wins apiece. Dallas Pope, Zach Cunningham, Jacob Bargoil, Jacob Holliday, Chris Lane, Jordan Batson and Jason Hilbert each claimed one individual triumph.
Rosewood (36-14 overall) concludes regular-season action Wednesday at Greene Central. The Eagles seek their 18th straight conference tournament championship Saturday during the season-ending Carolina-Four Rivers-Tideland Athletic meet at Goldsboro High.
