MOUNT OLIVE -- Limestone and Quincy finished with perfect 3-0 records as the MOC Men's Volleyball Festival concluded Saturday at Kornegay Arena. Mount Olive fell to Limestone in three sets in the tournament finale and finished with a 1-2 mark. Eastern Mennonite and King also went 1-2, while Barton finished 0-3.

Limestone finished strong in all three sets to sweep the host Trojans Saturday morning. Adam Miracle and Renzo Rossato finished with 11 and 10 kills, respectively, and Jackson Metichecchia added 31 assists in a losing cause for the Trojans (1-2).

The battle between the two Conference Carolinas foes did not count as a conference match.

Mount Olive trailed by as much as seven points in the opening set. But consecutive kills by Miracle, Rossato and three attack errors by the Saints (3-0) helped the Trojans climb within 18-17. Metichecchia added four assists during the comeback.

Kills by Kevin Hart and Scott Warren pushed the Saints' advantage back to 21-17 before the Trojans came back again. Two kills by Jack Tutty and a Saint service error tied the game, 23-23. Mount Olive never got over the hump, however. A service error by the Trojans and a Kevin Hart ace closed out the set.

In the second set, it was Mount Olive racing out to the early advantage, and Limestone returned the favor by coming from behind.

Rossato had two kills and two service aces as Mount Olive raced out to an 11-6 advantage. After a Limestone timeout, the Saints reeled off five consecutive points, three coming off attack errors by the Trojans.

The match was knotted six more times in the set before a Hart kill gave the Saints the lead for good.

Limestone stretched the lead to 20-16, but the Trojans surged back and a Miracle kill and Saint attack error closed the deficit to 23-22.

A Derek Daley kill put Limestone at set point. After the Trojans fought off a point, Hart delivered a kill for the winner. In the clincher, Limestone never trailed, building an eight-point cushion before closing out the set.

Rossato finished with three service aces for the Trojans, while Tyler Carnes led the team in digs with five.

Limestone was led by Scott Warren with 18 kills and five digs. Andrew Pile added 39 assists.

Mount Olive is off until January 24 when the Trojans play host to Barton in Conference Carolinas action. Match time is 7 p.m. at Kornegay Arena.
