Boys' basketball

Wayne Christian 52,

* WILSON -- Wayne Christian earned its second win of the season with a 52-32 victory over the Eastern N.C. School for the Deaf on Thursday night.

Chase Darden scored 16 points for the Eagles. Seth Slusher, Dylan Smith and David Swets each had 10 points.

Wayne Christian (2-11 overall) plays host to Bethel Christian on Saturday.

Girls' basketball

Wayne Christian 39

* WILSON -- Katie Isenhower scored 15 points and grabbed seven rebounds, but it wasn't enough as Wayne Christian lost 50-39 to the Eastern N.C. School for the Deaf on Thursday evening.

Carly Hightower supplied 12 points and five assists for the Eagles. Courtney Barrow had seven points and eight rebounds.

Middle schools

* Boys' basketball: Wayne Christian 34, Community Christian 20 -- Seth Harrell finished with 22 points for the Eagles.

* Boys' basketball: Dillard 56, Rosewood 23 -- Kaleb Taylor scored five points for Rosewood.

* Girls' basketball: Wayne Christian 27, Community Christian 21 -- Kasey Norris led the Eagles with five points. Brooke Slusher pulled down 12 rebounds.

* Girls' basketball: Dillard 36, Rosewood 29 -- Alyssa Garrison paced Rosewood with 12 points. The Eagles (7-2) travel to Brogden on Jan. 12.
