Boys' basketball
Rosewood 46, North Johnston 44
* KENLY -- Rosewood picked up its first win of the season with a 46-44 victory over North Johnston on Wednesday night.
Dee Mabry led the Eagles' attack with 16 points. Jyonte Raynor added nine points in the win.
Rosewood (1-1 overall) plays host to Midway on Friday night.
Southern Wayne 63, East Duplin 48
* BEULAVILLE -- Southern Wayne continued its hot start to the basketball season with a 63-48 win over East Duplin on Wednesday night.
The victory pushed the Saints' record to 4-1 overall.
Ronell Outlaw paced the Southern Wayne offense with 15 points. Andrew Mathews added 13 points and Trey Allen finished with 12 points.
Montell Staton led East Duplin with 15 points.
Southern Wayne entertains county rival Goldsboro on Friday.
Princeton 52, Hobbton 40
* NEWTON GROVE -- Princeton evened its record with a 52-40 win over Hobbton on Wednesday night.
Dallas Stanford led the Bulldawgs with 14 points. Aaron Simpkins added seven points.
Princeton (2-2 overall) plays host to North Johnston on Friday night.
Havelock 53, Eastern Wayne 50
* HAVELOCK -- Eastern Wayne could not get a big basket in the final minutes of a 53-50 loss to Havelock on Wednesday night.
Lee Atkinson led the Warriors with 14 points. Tyrik Kornegay and Josiah Davis each finished with 10 points in the defeat.
Eastern Wayne (1-2 overall) plays host to Wilson Hunt on Dec. 6.
Greene Central 57, C.B. Aycock 54
* SNOW HILL --Charles B. Aycock rallied in the fourth quarter, but fell short in a 57-54 loss to Greene Central on Wedensday night.
Michael Williams led the Golden Falcons with 15 points. Derrick Lofton added 11 points in the defeat.
C.B. Aycock (0-3 overall) visits Wilson Hunt on Friday.
Girls' basketball
C.B. Aycock 41, Greene Central 20
* SNOW HILL -- Charles B. Aycock swept the regular-season series from Greene Central with a 41-20 win on Wednesday night. The Golden Falcons topped the Rams in Pikeville exactly one week ago.
Ivy Hartzell led the way for the Golden Falcons with nine points and nine rebounds. Imari Howell added eight points.
C.B. Aycock (2-1 overall) travels to Wilson Hunt on Friday night.
Princeton 47, Hobbton 34
* NEWTON GROVE -- Princeton built a double-digit lead in the first quarter and never looked back in a 47-34 win over Hobbton on Wednesday night.
Savanna Massengill led the Bulldawgs with 21 points and 11 rebounds. Nicole Melvin added 19 points and three steals.
Princeton (3-1 overall) will host North Johnston on Friday.
