BREVARD -- Mount Olive College held Brevard without a field goal the final five minutes, and claimed a come-from-behind 70-64 victory on the women's college basketball scene Monday evening.
It was the Trojans' third straight win.
Andrea Jones pumped in a game-high 20 points for MOC, handed the Tornados their first loss of the season. Jasmine McDonald (15 points), Alyssa Luebs (13) and Tamara Nesmith (11) joined Jones in double figures. Luebs added 10 rebounds and three blocked shots.
Lindsay Brendle gave Brevard (4-1) one final lead with two free throws at the three-minute mark.
Then Jones took over.
The junior forward delivered her fourth 3-pointer of the contest with 2:40 left to give her team the lead for good, 63-61. Moments later, Jones found Luebs under the basket for a layup.
Brevard got one final chance to pull even when Holli Flippo drew a technical foul from Mount Olive with 39.1 seconds remaining. Flippo made both free throws to cut the lead to 67-64. Alyssa Cutshaw's 3-pointer was off target on the technical possession.
McDonald and Nesmith combined for three free throws to put the game away.
The Trojans visit Elizabeth City State on Saturday.
