GREENVILLE -- Two junior college players and 10 high school seniors have committed to play baseball at East Carolina University in 2013, head baseball coach Billy Godwin announced Saturday.
The latest group of standouts will enroll at ECU in the fall of 2012 and will take the diamond for the Pirates in 2013.
The class is comprised of four pitchers (Kyle Majette, Andrew Schorr, Justin Taylor and Hayden White); three outfielders (Garrett Brooks, Dylan Brown and Andrew Lamura), two infielders (Joe Brooks and Zach Houchins), two catchers (Luke Lowery and Travis Watkins) and one two-way player (Quinn Carpenter).
"I believe our staff (Coach Nick Schnabel and Coach Dan Roszel) has once again done an outstanding job of bringing high end talent to East Carolina," said Godwin. "We are excited that these young men are Pirates. They will play an integral part in defining and carrying on our great tradition of baseball excellence here at East Carolina. They are coming here to win championships and help get our program to OMAHA."
ECU finished 41-21 last season.
The Pirates launch their 2012 campaign at home Feb. 17 against Milwaukee.
