Consistency proved to be the model of efficiency for year-round swimmers at B.G. Darden Natatorium on an unseasonably warm Tuesday evening.

Charles B. Aycock's Bryce Connolly, the reigning Eastern Carolina 3-A Conference women's swimmer of the year, launched her season campaign by punching a ticket to the eastern regionals in the 100-yard freestyle and 200-yard individual medley (IM).

Teammate Savannah Sauls, despite a nagging right-shoulder injury, logged a regional-qualifying mark of 2 minutes, 17.5 seconds in the 200 free. She placed second in the event, and returned later in the evening to finish runner-up in the 100 backstroke.

Aycock's Kylie Robertson secured the 50 free in 30.31 seconds, while Goldsboro's Mikayla Huf was third in 32.16. Eastern Wayne's Jordan Everett placed fifth.

The Warriors' Emily Spengler won the 500 free in 7:45.89.

The Golden Falcons' foursome of Jayna Beamon, Robertson, Connolly and Sauls turned in a "consideration time" of 1:58.32 in the 200 free relay. The group missed the regional-qualifying standard by just three-hundredths of a second.

Rosewood's quartet of Ciera Satterfield, Megann Tyndall, Breanna Gattison and Jessica Mitchell placed third in the 200 free relay with a 1-A/2-A regional consideration time of 2:12.63.

On the boys' side, defending 1-meter state champion Devin Hall easily won the diving competition with 188.10 points. Teammate Cody Freels took second, while Eastern Wayne's Willie Smith placed third.

Goldsboro sprinter Logan Cole easily advanced to the 1-A/2-A regionals in the 50 and 100 free events. Cole also swam the anchor leg on the Cougars' 400 free relay, which recorded a meet-winning and regional-qualifying time of 3:57.61. Joining Cole were Zach Darden, Steven Morton and Timmy Vick.

Darden won the 100 free in 55.14 seconds.

Vick collected runner-up finishes in the 200 free and 500 free, and secured a spot in the 1-A/2-A regional in each event.

Southern Wayne's Chad Davis logged meet-winning and regional-qualifying marks in the 200 free and 500 free.
