Prep cross country

KERNERSVILLE -- Nick Britt and Allen Coor each logged a top-52 finish during the season-ending N.C. High School Athletic Association Class 1-A men's cross country championship meet Saturday afternoon.
A senior at Rosewood, Britt ran the 3.1-mile Beeson Park course in 18 minutes, 30.65 seconds and finished 51st overall.
Coor, a Spring Creek freshman, crossed the line behind Britt in 18:37.72.
Carolina Conference team champion Princeton took seven runners and ended up 12th among 16 competing squads. Ethan Anderson led the Dogs' charge with a 69th-place run of 19:05.39.
Will Toler ended up 72nd in 19:08.65. Twins Lane and Quinn Dougherty claimed 78th and 80th place, respectively. Matt Edwards completed Princeton's team score with an 88th-place effort of 19:44.22.
Will Denning and James Boring also ran.
Goldsboro's tandem of Grayson Collins and Mikayla Huf wound up 82nd and 84th, respectively, in the women's portion of the state championship meet. Six seconds separated the teammates.
North Duplin's Genesis Orellano, the Carolina Conference champion, placed 85th. Teammate Samantha Wilkins, who earned all-Carolina Conference honors, took 95th in 24:53.5.
Rosewood's Ashley Duran finished 93rd among the competing 126 runners.
Princeton was 16th in team action, just one week after placing fourth overall in the Mideast Regional one week earlier. Abby Rubio emerged the Dogs' top performer with a 94th-place time of 24:53.12. Freshman Megan Evans and Katlyn Casey claimed 103rd and 105th, respectively.
Kathryn Hewett and Tracy Smith rounded out the team score. Alexis Jaurez and Rebekah Fizgerald also participated.
