MOUNT OLIVE -- Hannah Hill notched the game's lone goal in the 60th minute, and in-state rival Pfeiffer University stunned Mount Olive College, 1-0, in opening-round play of the 2011 Conference Carolinas women's soccer tournament on a windy, rainy Monday evening.

The seventh-seeded Falcons (9-9-1 overall) broke the scoreless tie when Alyssa Wombwell connected with Hill on a crossing pass for an open 18-yard shot.

The second-seeded Trojans, the East Division champions, had their best chance to tie on Lindsey Stanley's shot in the 73rd minute, but Falcon goalkeeper Jamie Alcala came up with the save. The Trojans did not get another shot attempt the remainder of the match.

Eight MOC seniors played their final collegiate match -- Stanley, Pattie Adkins, Felicia Dracz, Savannah Kosik, Lyndsey McIntyre, Cara Paxson, Caroline Smith and Brittany Thurlow.

The Trojans concluded the year 10-5-2 overall and post a .647 winning percentage -- third-highest in program history. MOC logged back-to-back 10-win seasons for the first time since 2004-06 and recorded a 0.86 goals-against-average as a team -- second-lowest in program history.

Pfeiffer leads the series 11-5-2 since 1998, but Mount Olive has fashioned a 5-3-2 record against the Falcons since 2004.
