C.B. Aycock 21, North Lenoir 6
* LaGRANGE -- Charles B. Aycock erupted for 21 points in the fourth quarter and earned its second win of the season in a 21-6 victory at Eastern Carolina 3-A Conference rival North Lenoir on Friday night.
Golden Falcons quarterback Austin Snowden slipped out of a tackle on third-and-19 from Aycock's own 11-yard line early in the fourth quarter and raced 89 yards to the end zone to put the Golden Falcons in front 7-6.
Snowden added a 4-yard touchdown run and Cody Garris supplied a 15-yard score. Snowden finished with 141 yards on 17 carries.
Devonte Sutton led the Hawks with 50 yards on 10 carries. Caleb Baird kicked a pair of field goals to account for North Lenoir's scoring.
C.B. Aycock (2-4 overall, 1-1 ECC) continues ECC play at South Johnston next Friday. The Hawks (1-5, 0-2) play host to Triton.
Red Springs 16, Goldsboro 14
* RED SPRINGS -- Jonathan Valladarez's 20-yard field goal with 10 seconds left lifted Red Springs to a 16-14 non-conference win over Goldsboro on Friday night.
The Red Devils marched 80 yards in two minutes to set up Valladarez's game-winning kick. Red Springs' drive was aided by tailback Xavier McEachern's 15-yard run and a costly 15-yard facemask penalty on the Cougars. Quarterback Blake Greene's 20-yard run set the Red Devils up with first-and-goal.
Goldsboro quarterback Julius Murphy was 9 for 16 passing for 126 yards. He threw a pair of touchdown passes to Rodney Cook. Cook finished with seven catches for 126 yards. Karon Alston added 90 yards on the ground on 19 carries.
The Cougars (2-3 overall) begin Carolina 1-A Conference play at North Duplin next Friday.
James Kenan 31, Hobbton 22
* James Kenan tailback Devon Best rushed for a career-high 261 yards and three touchdowns in the Tigers' 31-22 against Tri-County 1-A Conference foe Hobbton on Friday night.
Best had touchdown runs of 15, 64 and 49 yards. Dominique Barnes tacked on a pair of short touchdown runs for James Kenan. The Tigers finished with 402 yards rushing.
North Pitt 31, Greene Central 9
* SNOW HILL -- Greene Central struggled without suspended starting quarterback Rasheem Shackleford in a 31-9 loss to Eastern Plains 2-A rival North Pitt on Friday night.
The Rams had their three-game win streak snapped.
The Panthers jumped out to a 14-0 lead behind a pair of short touchdown runs. Greene Central's lone points came on a safety and Tray Hill supplied a 9-yard touchdown run. North Pitt held a 338-242 edge in total offense. The Rams were penalized 13 times for 131 yards.
Greene Central (4-2 overall, 1-1 EPC) continues EPC at defending 2-A state champion Tarboro on Friday.
