* HENDERSON -- Chase Darden notched two goals and handed out two assists, and Wayne Christian hammered Crossroads Christian, 7-0, in a Carolina Christian 1-A Conference match Friday afternoon.
Victor Kokiko provided one goal and two assists.
Kevin Wheeler found the back of the net twice. Chris Smith and Matthew Jackson delivered one goal apiece, while Baron Wise and Hunter Burt each had an assist.
David Swets and Jamie Tucker combined for seven saves and shutout between the posts.
The Eagles (2-2-1 overall, 2-0-0 CCC) travel to archrival Wayne Country Day on Thursday. The teams battled to a 4-4 draw in their previous meeting.
Girls' tennis
Greene Central 9, Kinston 0
* SNOW HILL -- Greene Central remained perfect on the Eastern Plains 2-A Conference scene with a 9-0 thrashing of Kinston on Friday afternoon.
Jessica Hatch, Kayla Radford, Brittany Colie, Hayes Lovett, Danielle Dillane and Mackenzie Butts each picked up a singles point for the Rams. Lovett and Butts shut out their respective opponent, while Colie dropped just one game at No. 3 singles.
Hatch-Lovett, Radford-Colie and Laurie Sutton-Chasity Holloman completed the sweep in doubles.
The Rams (6-4 overall, 4-0 EPC) put their four-match win streak on the line Tuesday against league rival Farmville Central. First serve is 4 p.m.
Volleyball
Triton 3, Southern Wayne 0
* DUDLEY -- Outside hitter Carlie Heath toed the service line during a 10-point, third-set run, but Southern Wayne couldn't keep the momentum against two-time defending Eastern Carolina 3-A Conference champion Triton.
The Hawks prevailed 25-15, 25-12, 25-18 and extended their unbeaten ECC streak to 22 regular-season matches.
"The loss was a heartbreaker for the team, but we were never overmatched ... scores not withstanding," said Southern Wayne head coach Eric Durol. "We matched up well in the middle, getting 10 blocks and forcing them to go outside. We missed a few dinks and mental errors always play a part, but the girls fought Triton until the last point."
Ana Rodriguez logged four blocks for the Saints.
Southern Wayne entertains Cleveland on Tuesday.
