Will Janning and Stacie Salter earned the Roy Whitfield Award for outstanding athletic achievement by a male and female, respectively, during the Spring Creek spring awards ceremony Tuesday evening.

Janning also received the Doug Anderson Award.

Here are the award winners by sport:

* Men's track: Gator Award -- Terrell Johnson; Coach's Award -- Darius Hayden; Top Point Recipient -- Dennis Swinson.

* Golf: Lowest Round -- Paul Sullivan; MVP -- Jordan Edwards; Most Improved -- Dwayne Brown.

* Men's tennis: Gator Award -- Daniel Krentz; Most Improved -- Cody Boozer; Coach's Award -- JD Quick.

* Softball: Coach's Award -- Brittany Collier; Gator Award -- Allison Tanner; Most Improved -- Martha Morton.

* Women's soccer: Gator Award -- Stacie Salter; Coach's Award -- Margarita Balleza; Most Improved -- Ashton Ross.

* Women's track: Coach's Award -- Hannah Brown; High scorer -- Sara Boltinhouse; Most Improved -- Vidalina Perez.

* Baseball: Gator Award -- Chris Nichols; Player-of-the-Year -- Ricky Brayboy; All-Carolina Conference -- Brayboy, Zack Harrell, Corey Howell and Duane Gurganus.

Junior Legion

C.B. Aycock 5, Wilson Red 3

* PIKEVILLE -- Adam Pate pitched a complete game and Charles B. Aycock held off Wilson Red for a 5-3 Junior American Legion victory on Tuesday evening.

Pate struck out six, walked one and allowed three runs.

Logan Brown, Hunter Jones and Rider Gardner each provided a hit and an RBI for the Golden Falcons. Bobby Hampton and Pate both added a hit.

Gregory Johnson contributed an RBI.

Aycock (5-1 overall) entertains Wayne County North on Friday.

Golf

Walnut Creek LGA

* Faye Franklin claimed low gross honors during first flight play during recent action at Walnut Creek Country Club. Evelyn Rose (low net) and Linda Cannon (low putts) also excelled in first flight.

Joyce Reynolds was the low gross winner in second flight. Dot Julian and Penny Ritt captured low net and low putts, respectively.

Lane Tree LGA

* Barbara Hill seized game-of-the-week accolades during weekly tournament play (May 23-29) on the Lane Tree Golf Club links. Mary Ann Sutton and Cathy Garris earned low net and low putts, respectively.

A week earlier, Hill emerged the game-of-the-week winner. Teresa Shearin and Betty Jean Gurley won low net and low putts, respectively.
