Party poopers.

Wilson Red slugged two early-game home runs and handed Wayne West a 15-2, five-inning loss on the Rosewood High School diamond Thursday evening. It was the home debut for West (0-2 overall) on the American Junior Legion baseball scene.

Red hurlers Collan Braddy and Dustin Edwards combined for a three-hitter in the mercy rule-shortened affair. Braddy surrendered a two-RBI, first-inning single to Matt Shaw, and retired the next four batters before Edwards took over in the second.

Edwards retired eight straight batters before issuing a two-out walk to Jordan Gurley in the fifth inning. Gurley was left stranded after Edwards notched a game-ending strikeout.

Cody Neal and Reed Howell each had one hit for West.

Jacob Lee's two-RBI home run highlighted a six-run, first-inning outburst for Wilson Red. Lee, Zack Williams (RBI), Will Cunningham (two RBI, HR) and Michael Stalls (two RBI) finished with two hits apiece.

Dillon Bass batted 1-for-1 with two RBI.

Wayne West used four pitchers in the contest. Howell endured the loss and exited after facing seven batters in the first inning. Shaw tossed two-plus innings, while Breedlove threw one inning. Gurley finished up and emerged the lone West hurler to strike out a Wilson Red batter.

Earlier in the evening, the teams completed a suspended contest from earlier in the week. Wilson Red prevailed 7-6 when Jacob Lee scored the game-winning run on a passed ball in the bottom of the seventh inning.

Johnathan Cherry and John Winslow (RBI) led Wayne West's offense with two hits apiece. Howell, Daniel Herring (RBI), Breedlove and Alex Brogden (RBI) each recorded one hit.

Brogden swiped two bases.
