Girls' soccer

Wayne Christian 5,

Crossroads Christian 0

* HENDERSON -- Brooke Barfield notched a hat trick (three goals) and Wayne Christian rolled past Crossroads Christian, 5-0, in a Carolina Christian 1-A Conference game Tuesday afternoon.

Kaylee Wallace and Carly Hightower added one goal apiece.

Hightower, Kayla Kennedy and Katie Isenhower each had one assist.

Courtney Barrow logged four saves.

The Eagles (3-4-0 overall, 3-2-0 CCC) entertain Grace-Raleigh on Friday.

Wayne Country Day 5, Oakwood 0

* GREENVILLE -- Sarah Best scored three goals in Wayne Country Day's 5-0 win over Coastal Plains Independent 1-A Conference foe Oakwood on Tuesday.

Catherine Ford added a pair of goals.

The Chargers (5-4-0 overall, 1-1-0 CPIC) face Pasquotank on Friday in the Brittany VII in Wilson.

Princeton 4, Goldsboro 1

* PRINCETON -- Dorian Wences scored Goldsboro's only goal in a 4-1 Carolina 1-A Conference loss at Princeton on Tuesday.

It was the league opener for both teams.

Holly Pittard had an assist for the Cougars.

Goldsboro (4-6-1, 0-1 CC) plays host to Rosewood on Thursday.

Grace Christian 9,

Wayne Christian 0

* RALEIGH -- Wayne Christian suffered a 9-0 loss at Grace Christian on Tuesday.

The Eagles (3-4, 0-1 CCC) entertain Coastal Christian on Monday at Wayne Community College.

Greenfield 5,

Wayne Country Day 4

* Wayne Country Day came up just short in a 5-4 loss to Coastal Plains Independent 1-A Conference foe Greenfield on Tuesday at Wayne Community College.

Michael Knutson and Jack Langston both earned singles victories for the Chargers. The doubles teams of Knuston-Miller Gerrard and Langston-Douglas Williams also prevailed.

Wayne Country Day (2-4 overall) visits the Herman Park team today.

Golf

Lane Tree Ladies

* Teresa Shearin claimed game-of-the-week honors on the Lane Tree Golf Club links. Susan Davis captured low net and Mary Ann Sutton seized low putts.
