Spring Creek 10, Dixon 3
* HOLLY RIDGE -- Corey Howell banged out two hits, and Spring Creek claimed a 10-3, non-conference win over Dixon on Saturday afternoon.
Methodist University signee Ricky Brayboy, Will Janning and Wyatt Janning each provided an RBI hit.
Zack Harrell emerged the winning pitcher.
The Gators (3-5 overall) play host to Southwest Onslow today.
Girls' soccer
Chargers drop two matches
* DURHAM -- Sarah Best notched all three goals as Wayne Country Day suffered back-to-back losses against Statesville Christian and Shannon Forest (S.C.) on day two of the Trinity of Durham Invitational.
Best scored twice on assists from Catherine Ford and Mack Thompson in a 6-2 setback against Statesville . A sophomore, Best tallied the lone goal off Thompson's assist in an 8-1 defeat against Shannon Forest.
The Chargers dropped to 2-2-0 overall this season.
Middle schools
* Softball: Norwayne 11, Rosewood 0 -- Allie Phillips logged 11 strikeouts in the pitcher's circle, and the Cobras began a new winning streak with a shutout over the Eagles. Madison Walton pounded out three hits, while Holly Sutton had two hits. Carlee Millard, Taylor Adams and Abbie Walton provided one hit apiece. Norwayne (3-1 overall) visits Greenwood today.
