MOUNT OLIVE -- John Nunns recorded a perfect outing, Angel Dache cranked out a match-high 15 kills and Mount Olive College swept Eastern Mennonite (Va.) University 25-18, 25-15, 25-21 in a non-conference men's volleyball match Tuesday evening.
Nunns pounded out 11 kills with no errors and emerged the second Trojan in program history to post a 1.000 hitting percentage in a match. Jose Lanier holds the school record with 12 kills and no errors set last season against New Paltz.
Alejandro Rivera finished with 10 kills for the Trojans, who posted a season-best .486 hitting percentage. Setter Jackson Mettechecchia finished with match highs of 42 assists and three blocks. Bjorn Metzger added three service aces and two blocks.
MOC (5-2 overall) returns to action Feb. 5 at in-state archrival Lees-McRae. The Trojans won all three meetings last season, including a four-set victory over the Bobcats in the Conference Carolinas tournament championship.
