Goldsboro's 200 freestyle relay established a new meet record during the Southeastern Interscholastic Swimming Championships contested Saturday at B.G. Darden Natatorium inside the Goldsboro Family Y.
The quartet of Darion Marks, Timmy Vick, Logan Cole and Travis Paul touched the wall in 1 minute, 36.34 seconds. They broke the old record (1:36.46) set by Eastern Wayne's foursome of Spenser Rouse, Melvin Shipman, Jeremy Schley and Ryan Klinkicht in 2007.
The Cougars also emerged victorious in the 200 medley relay.
Cole claimed first in the 50 free and 100 fly, while Paul captured the 500 free and took third in the 100 free. Marks was second in the 200 IM and third in the 100 back. Vick ended up second in the 100 breaststroke.
Southern Wayne's Chad Davis continued his outstanding season with a third-place effort in the 500 free.
On the girls' side, Charles B. Aycock's Bryce Connolly seized first in the 200 free and 100 free. Teammate Savannah Sauls placed second in the 500 free and third in the 100 free.
