Eastern Wayne heavyweight Blake Terrell and 152-pounder Quadrick Williams each posted 4-0 records during a seven-team, non-conference wrestling meet hosted by the Warriors.

Terrell pinned two opponents and received two forfeits for Eastern Wayne, which finished 2-2 on the night. The Warriors defeated 2-A members Tarboro and North Johnston, and dropped decisions against county rival Rosewood and 4-A powerhouse Western Harnett.

"Blake came back and beat North Johnston's Kenny Jones, who he had lost to this past weekend," said Warriors head coach Jonathan Jones. "We pushed Western Harnett and Rosewood much better than we have in the past. With two big contributors still unable to go, many young wrestlers stepped up big. Craig (Smith), Aaron (Bott), Quadrick and Dante (Jackson) -- all freshmen -- had big nights."

Williams pinned Rosewood's Bradley Mills just 68 seconds into the opening period. He earned 14-11 decision over Western's Gerald Campbell, and picked up two forfeits.

Bott scored a 64-second fall over Rosewood's Jordan Batson on the way to a 3-0 effort for the meet. He pinned Western's Amani Manning and collected a forfeit against short-handed Tarboro.

Jackson finished 3-1. Tyshawn Koonce, Austin Helm and Nolan Kirkwood each compiled 2-2 records.

"The best thing was most of the guys showed good improvements whether in a loss or a win," said Jones.

Eastern Wayne (6-5 overall) returns to action Dec. 31 in the annual Pilkington Memorial Duals at Charles B. Aycock. Opening-round matches begin at 9 a.m.
