CLAYTON -- Charles B. Aycock began defense of its Eastern Carolina 3-A Conference regular-season, dual-team wrestling championship with a 51-24 rout of Cleveland on Tuesday evening.

The Golden Falcons (6-3 overall) won 10 individual bouts and snapped a two-match skid.

"We were really good on our feet tonight, scoring eight of 11 first takedowns in contested matches," said Aycock head coach Marc Peck. "Khaleil's major decision over Chance Wallace was the standout match for us tonight as it sealed the victory."

Owens, who picked up his 11th win of the season, dominated Wallace 24-13. It was just Wallace's second loss on the year.

Aycock's Nick Jones and Daniel Romo also recorded major decisions at 103 and 130 pounds, respectively. Aaron Pate edged the Rams' Blaine Bryant, 4-3, at 152 pounds.

The Golden Falcons got pins from David Romo (125), Zeb Darden (140), Preston Tucker (145) and Nick Simmons (171). Travion Lewis (215) and heavyweight Jorge Flores each drew a forfeit.

"This was a great confidence builder for the super quad at Eastern Wayne this Friday night," said Peck.

The five-team dual begins at 3 p.m.

It was the Saints' second victory of the season.
