PIKEVILLE -- Charles B. Aycock opened the home portion of its wrestling schedule with two victories in a three-team, non-conference battle Tuesday evening.
The Golden Falcons hammered Greene Central 66-18 and upended Wilson Fike 51-24. Aycock (5-1 overall) extended its dual-match win streak to five after a season-opening, one-point loss to Western Harnett just six days ago.
Sophomore Nick Jones, a first-year starter, climbed to 5-0 at 103 pounds. He pinned the Rams' Jarmelle Darden and earned a 6-5 decision over the Golden Demons' Zovek Chapa.
Sophomore Daniel Romo, a second-year starter, boosted his record to 6-0. Competing at 130 pounds, Romo pinned Greene Central's Jeffrey Tyndall and Fike's Everado Araujo.
"We had amazing contributions by our young wrestlers," said CBA head coach Marc Peck.
Travion Lewis, heavyweight Jorge Flores, Jamar Owens, David Romo, Charlie Mills, Preston Tucker, Nick Simmons, Zeb Darden, Aaron Pate, Khaleil Owens and Broc Doyle each emerged victorious during the tri-meet. Romo, Mills, Tucker and Simmons all finished 2-0.
Overall, Aycock picked up 13 pins, five forfeits, one decision and one disqualification.
"This was a great tune-up for our first individual tournament in Tarboro this coming weekend," said Peck, whose team will compete in the annual Pierce-Davis Memorial on Saturday.
