AYDEN -- Princeton never got its offense in gear and struggled to slow the Ayden-Grifton attack en route to a 55-6 defeat on the Carolina 1-A Conference scene Friday night.

The Chargers jumped out to a 14-0 advantage before Princeton got on the scoreboard on a 72-yard kickoff return by Jamaal Allen. From that point on the game was dominated by the home team.

Five different Charger running backs found the end zone and put the game out of reach early in the third quarter.

"Ayden-Grifton has a lot of talent in the backfield and they are extremely quick," Princeton head coach Russell Williamson said. "Most of the night it seemed like were running to catch up."

Princeton (2-8 overall, 1-3 CC) will look to regroup heading into the season-ending showdown with archrival Rosewood on Nov. 5. The same night Ayden-Grifton will visit Goldsboro with a conference championship on the line.

SouthWest Edgecombe 52, Greene Central 7

PINETOPS -- SouthWest Edgecombe reeled off 44 unanswered points and put away Eastern Plains 2-A Conference rival Greene Central 52-7 on Friday night.

Rashad Yelverton pulled the Rams within a point early in the second quarter with a 22-yard touchdown run, but that is all the scoring the Rams would manage against the stout Cougar defense.

Yelverton finished the game with 127 yards on 22 carries. Quarterback Brandon Suit added 31 yards on the ground for the Rams, but failed to connect on any of his three pass attempts.

Greene Central (3-7 overall, 1-4 EPC) will travel to Farmville Central on Nov. 5 for the teams' conference finale.

Triton 38, C.B. Aycock 20

ERWIN -- Tyler Farmer led the Golden Falcons with 279 yards through the air but it was not enough as Triton jumped on top early and never looked back in a 38-20 victory.

The home team broke out with two quick touchdowns and a subsequent 14-0 lead in the opening quarter. By halftime the Hawks' lead ballooned to 28-12.

Shepard Whitfield paced the Golden Falcon ground game with 84 yards on 16 carries and scored one touchdown. A.J. Mundle grabbed three passes for 140 yards and a score while teammate Elijah Murray snagged five balls for 115 yards and a touchdown.

C.B. Aycock (3-7 overall, 1-3 ECC) will host Southern Wayne in a clash of county rivals on Nov. 5.

South Johnston 48, North Lenoir 25

FOUR OAKS -- North Lenoir stood strong for three quaters before eventually falling to South Johnston 48-25 on Friday night.

The Trojans scored 20 unanswered points in the final quarter to put away what was a close game.

North Lenoir (2-8 overall, 0-4 ECC) will look to play the role of spoiler next week when Eastern Wayne comes to LaGrange. The Warriors can claim a share of the Eastern Carolina 3-A Conference championship with a victory.
