Boys' soccer

C.B. Aycock 4, North Lenoir 1

* PIKEVILLE -- Charles B. Aycock advanced to the Eastern Carolina 3-A Conference championship match with a 4-1 victory over North Lenoir on Tuesday night at Hardy Talton Stadium.

The Golden Falcons' Trey Millard opened the scoring in the 16th minute. Kyle Powell increased the lead to 3-0 with goals in the 30th and 39th minutes.

Travis Musselman put Aycock in front 4-0 with a goal off a free kick in the 67th minute.

The Hawks scored in the 79th minute.

The Golden Falcons finished with 19 shots on goal.

Aycock (15-6-2) faces South Johnston for the title.

Rosewood 4, Ayden-Grifton 0

* Zach Syverson broke a scoreless tie in the 49th minute and Rosewood picked up a 4-0 victory over Carolina 1-A Conference foe Ayden-Grifton on Tuesday night at Branch Pope Field.

The Chargers' own goal in the 63rd minute extended the Eagles' lead to 2-0. Jonathan Franks scored off Antonio Henriques' assist in the 67th minute.

Henriques completed the scoring off an assist from Zach Behrend.

Rosewood's victory gave Spring Creek the conference title outright and helped the Eagles (8-6-1 overall, 5-2-1 CC) stay in contention for the league's second playoff berth.

Girls' tennis

C.B. Aycock 6, D.H. Conley 0

GREENVILLE -- Charles B. Aycock cruised past D.H. Conley 6-0 in the second round of the N.C. High School Athletic Association 3-A dual-team playoffs on Tuesday afternoon.

Abbey Strickland, Katie Gurley, Harlie Howard, Brittany Parrish, Misty Edwards and Caroline Bone each earned singles victories for the Golden Falcons.

Aycock (15-8 overall) entertains Wilson Fike on Nov. 2.

The match is scheduled for 4 p.m.

Golf

Walnut Creek Ladies

* Novella Zambelli earned play-of-the-day honors. Hiromi Sueki claimed low gross and Faye Franklin seized low net. Gaye Bryant captured low putts.

Middle schools

* Volleyball: Spring Creek d. Grantham 25-11, 18-25, 25-8, 25-11 -- Stormy Westrbook provided five service aces for the Gators. Sarah Ford contributed two aces and two kills. Shalyn Edwards and Sydney Ocker both had two aces. Spring Creek (8-4 overall, 5-1 WCMSAC Division II) entertains Brogden on Thursday.
