C.B. Aycock 21, Wilson Fike 0

* WILSON -- Charles B. Aycock scored a touchdown in each of the first three quarters in a 21-0, non-conference win at Wilson Fike on Friday night.

Antonio Applewhite's 25-yard touchdown run gave the Golden Falcons a 7-0 lead fewer than two minutes into the game.

Aycock quarterback Tyler Farmer tossed a 38-yard touchdown pass to Craig Murdock in the second quarter. Farmer added a 2-yard touchdown run in the third quarter.

Farmer finished 11 for 16 passing for 162 yards and a touchdown. Bryant led the rushing attack with 59 yards on 12 carries.

"Tyler is a great kid, but he's not going to say something to offend someone," said Golden Falcons' head coach Randy Pinkowski. "He did a good job last night knowing where his offensive line was supposed to be. If someone missed a block, he let them know.

"I think last night I saw the leadership part of football come into play for him."

C.B. Aycock (2-3 overall) visits Wilson Hunt on Friday.

Eastern Wayne 43, West Craven 20

* VANCEBORO -- Lamar Best turned in his fourth 100-plus yard rushing performance of the season to go with four touchdowns in Eastern Wayne's 43-20 victory at West Craven.

Best had a pair of touchdown runs in the first quarter and Tykwan Days caught an 89-yard touchdown pass from quarterback Avner Clark.

Best finished with 156 yards rushing on 20 carries. Clark completed 6 of 16 passes for a career-high 204 yards and two touchdowns. Days had three receptions for 132 yards and two touchdowns. The Warriors compiled 460 yards of total offense.

Eastern Wayne (3-2 overall) plays host to Wilson Fike on Friday.

Midway 34, Princeton 27

* SPIVEY'S CORNER -- Princeton battled back from a three-score deficit in the third quarter and had a chance to win the game before coming up short in a 34-27 loss at Midway on Friday evening.

Both teams moved the ball at will throughout the contest.

With his team trailing 28-13 early in the third quarter, Alan Cooke broke a 25-yard touchdown run that pulled the Dawgs within nine points. Javontae Davis inched his team closer with the game's biggest play -- a 56-yard touchdown run late in the fourth quarter.

The Dawgs recovered the onside kick, but failed to move the ball in the final minute.

"We had a chance and that is all that you can ask for," said Princeton assistant coach Bruce Proctor. "We played well on offense all night, but just came up short in the end after a perfectly-executed onside kick."

Davis led the Dawgs with 178 yards on the ground and two touchdowns. Brad Williamson completed 12 passes for 117 yards and one score.

Princeton (1-4 overall) travels to South Robeson on Friday.

East Duplin 21, James Kenan 14

* WARSAW -- Wiley Jackson's 45-yard touchdown pass to Breon Hall with a little more than four minutes left lifted East Duplin to a 21-14 win at James Kenan on Friday night.

Tigers' quarterback Park Jones scored from two yards out to give Kenan a 14-7 lead with 9:26 remaining. East Duplin answered right back with a 65-yard drive capped with Jackson's two-yard sneak.

The Panthers' defense forced a three-and-out and East Duplin took over at the Tigers' 45-yard line. On second-and-10, Jackson hit Hall streaking down the right sideline for the winning score.

"I thought we played good enough to win," said Kenan head coach Ken Avent Jr. "They made some big plays and you have to tip your hat to them."

The Tigers got the ball back on their own 20-yard line with 4:02 left, but were forced to put after failing to pick up a first down.

Jones led the Kenan offense with 32 yards rushing and 23 yards passing.

Kenan (2-2 overall) begins Tri-County 1-A Conference play on Friday at Union.

"We told the guys they have to come out with the same intensity the next seven weeks that we had on Friday night," said Avent Jr. "We told them we have to put this one behind us. We're definitely getting better."

North Johnston 45, Rosewood 0

* KENLY -- North Johnston used a potent ground game to overwhelm Rosewood 45-0 on Friday night.

The Panthers racked up 260 yards on the ground to go with 82 yards through the air.

"We were able to take away the pitch option, which was good for our defense," said Rosewood head coach Robert Britt. "But we were really hurt by four turnovers."

Logan Waters led the Eagles with 68 yards on 24 carries. Taylor McGill completed four passes for 44 yards.

"I thought Taylor played pretty well when we gave him time to throw," said Britt. "We just have to focus on holding on to the football on offense."

Rosewood (1-4 overall) travels to East Carteret on Friday.

Greene Central 28, North Lenoir 27

* SNOW HILL -- Greene Central's enormous defensive line came through in a big spot and stopped a two-point conversion in the fourth quarter as the Rams collected a 28-27 win.

Big plays marked the night for the Greene Central offense.

Rashad Yelverton opened the scoring with a 23-yard scoring run. The Rams added a 45-yard run by Trey Hill, a 72-yard pass from Brandon Suit to Brandon Bishop and a 98-yard kickoff return by Kelsey Dixon.

"Offensively, they ran 20 more plays than we did and really were able to sustain some long drives," said Greene Central head coach Ken Grantham. "We felt like we had to score every time we got the ball because we might not get it back."

Hill led the Rams with 62 yards on the ground. Suit completed seven passes for 114 yards and one touchdown. Greene Central (2-3 overall) will host Wilson Beddingfield on Friday.

Maurice Morgan paced the Hawks with 97 yards on 17 carries. Mike Sutton rushed for 94 yards on 15 attempts. North Lenoir (1-4) welcomes Pamlico to Wheat Swamp on Friday.
