GREENSBORO -- Charles B. Aycock head football coach Randy Pinkowski and Eastern Wayne head soccer coach Jorg Wagner have been selected to participate in the 2011 N.C. Coaches Association East-West All-Star Games.

The annual showcases are scheduled for next July in Greensboro.

Pinkowski has been selected to serve as an assistant coach on the East squad as part of head coach Paul Hoggard's staff. Hoggard is the head coach at perennial football juggernaut Richmond Senior.

"It should be real interesting," said Pinkowski. "Paul has an outstanding reputation. I'm taking it as an opportunity to go and learn, and work with great kids. Maybe I can steal a little something to bring back to Aycock."

Pinkowski guided the Golden Falcons to a 10-3 record in 2009 and an appearance in the second round of the N.C. High School Athletic Association 3-A playoffs. Aycock started the year 7-0 and finished third in the Eastern Carolina Conference behind state runner-up South Johnston, and Triton.

"(The selection) is a credit to my assistant coaches and what we've able to do at Aycock," said Pinkowski. "You don't do it by yourself. I can't tell you how thrilled and honored I am. It's not of one those things that you think you'd ever get picked for it, especially at an anomaly like little 'ole Aycock.

"It's something I never thought would happen."

Wagner has been named the head coach of the women's team for the East and will be assisted by Mike C. Sloan of Wilkes Central High School.

Eastern Wayne finished its 2009 season 13-5-0. The Warriors captured both the Eastern Carolina 3-A Conference regular-season and tournament championships, and advanced to the second round of the NCHSAA 3-A playoffs.
