SEVEN SPRINGS -- Jake May accounted for all three runs and Wayne County North upended conference rival Spring Creek, 3-1, on the Junior American Legion baseball scene Tuesday evening.

May led the WC North offense with two hits, including a double, and an RBI. Nolan James also provided two hits.

Spring Creek right-hander Duane Gurganus endured the hard-luck loss. The rising junior permitted two earned runs and recorded five punchouts in four innings. Hunter Barnett supplied three innings of scoreless relief.

Offensively, Spring Creek managed just three hits -- one each by Chris Nichols, Austin Hinton and Zach Harrell.

Robert Faucette claimed the mound win for WC North, which evened its conference record at 1-1. Jeremy Lancaster earned the save.

"We just couldn't swing at all and when we hit the ball hard, it was right at somebody," said Spring Creek coach Heath Whitfield. "It was just one of those nights. Faucette didn't throw hard at all, but he mixed it up and did what he had to do."

Spring Creek (2-2 overall) begins a five-game road swing Sunday at Wilson. Wayne County North (3-4) entertains Benson today, and is the guest of WC South on Monday.
