LaGRANGE -- Eastern Wayne blanked Eastern Carolina 3-A Conference tennis foe North Lenoir 9-0 on Thursday afternoon.

Chaz Fitzpatrick, Russell Turner, Aaron Dunmire, Mike Barnette, Joe DiCesare and Marvin Bowman Jr. were each winners in singles play for the Warriors.

The doubles teams of Fitzpatrick-Barnette, Turner-Dunmire and DiCesare-Bowman Jr. were also victorious.

Eastern Wayne (12-2 overall, 8-2 ECC) visits Greene Central on Monday.

Aycock drops SW

PIKEVILLE -- Charles B. Aycock concluded its Eastern Carolina 3-A Conference season with a 7-1, senior day win over visiting Southern Wayne on Thursday.

Blake Vail, Will Hoff, Dylan Quinn, Brad Wilson and Kareem Alawar were all winners in singles play for the Golden Falcons.

The doubles teams of Vail-Hoff and Addison Westbrook-Quinn were also victorious.

Kobi Hood earned the lone point for the Saints in singles action.

The Golden Falcons (15-0 overall, 10-0 ECC) begin play in the season-ending ECC tournament next Wednesday in Snow Hill.

RW tops GHS

Rosewood shut out Carolina 1-A Conference opponent Goldsboro 9-0 on Thursday afternoon at Herman Park.

Cole Radcliff, Matt Binda, Antonio Henriques, Zach Behrend, Daniel Elowar and Jamez Henriques were each winners in singles plays for the Eagles.

The doubles teams of Binda/Antonio Henriques, Behrend/Alowar and Nathan Kornegay/Fouad Ismail were also victorious.

Rosewood (10-1, 5-1 CC) claimed a share of the conference regular-season championship with Ayden-Grifton. The conference tournament begins on Tuesday at Herman Park and the team champion receives the top seed for the N.C. High School Athletic Association dual-team playoffs.

WCDS posts win

Wayne Country Day turned back Oakwood 6-3 on Thursday at Wayne Community College.

Thomas Elmore, Jack Langston, Douglas Williams and Ravi Chittilla were all winners in singles play for the Chargers.

The doubles teams of Michael Knutson-Elmore, Williams-Langston and Chittilla-Alex Nolan also prevailed.

Wayne Country Day visits Greenfield today.

Baseball

Rebels trap Cougars

North Duplin defeated Carolina 1-A Conference foe Goldsboro 21-1 in five innings on Thursday.

Tyler Royal went 3 for 4 for the Rebels with four runs scored.

James Kornegay earned the win on the mound.

North Duplin (10-4 overall, 3-3 CC) visits Princeton on Tuesday, while Goldsboro entertains Rosewood.

Softball

Eagles tripped up

PANTEGO -- Terra Ceia pushed across eight runs in the bottom of the second inning and defeated Wayne Christian 10-3 on Thursday.

The Eagles scored twice in the top of the first inning on Rachel McCollum's RBI triple and Sarah McCollum's sac-fly. Wayne Christian was held to just one run for the rest of the game.

The Eagles (7-2 overall) travel to Fayetteville Christian today.

N. Duplin wins

North Duplin cruised past Goldsboro 27-1 in four innings on Thursday.

Casey Thornton and Alonna Pate each collected two hits for the Rebels.

Tearra Ammons, Juana Lujan, Ashley Froehlich, Skylar McCarty, Ansley Hill, Courtney Bennett, Angelica Favela and Raychel Barwick each had one hit.

North Duplin (4-7 overall, 3-2 CC) visits Princeton on Tuesday.

Golf

Warriors finish 2nd

ERWIN -- Triton compiled a team score of 333 to claim an Eastern Carolina 3-A Conference match on Thursday afternoon at Chicora Country Club.

The Hawks' Chris Sherrod earned medalist honors with a round of 77.

Eastern Wayne finished second with a team score of 339 ahead of third-place Southern Wayne's 345. South Johnston (353) was fourth with Charles B. Aycock (381) and North Lenoir (405) rounding out the field.

The Warriors' Ryan Lake carded a 78 and teammates Keith Gregorcyk and Caleb Jones both fired an 83.

Kyle Best turned in the low round for the Saints with an 80. John Graham and Will Bunch both finished at 88.

Michael Frearney delivered the Golden Falcons' lowest score with an 87. Michael Mazur followed with a 95.

Triton remains atop the conference standings at 1,674 with Southern Wayne in second place at 1,700. Eastern Wayne is third with 1,710 and South Johnston is fourth at 1,714. Aycock (1,819) and North Lenoir (1,898) are fifth and sixth, respectively.

Track

Warriors prevail

FOUR OAKS -- Eastern Wayne's girls narrowly earned a victory in an Eastern Carolina 3-A Conference tri-meet on Thursday at South Johnston.

The Warriors finished with 64 team points ahead of North Lenoir's 62 and the host Trojans' 43.

Tiarra McIntyre earned first-place finishes for Eastern Wayne in the 100-meter hurdles and the high jump. Alyssa Kimbrough was first in the 300-meter hurdles.

Also finishing first for the Warriors were Tia Jones (800 meters), Gabrielle Haire (3,200 meters) and Brianna Coleman (200 meters).

Falcons win

ERWIN -- Charles B. Aycock's boys tallied 82 points and captured a Eastern Carolina 3-A Conference tri-meet at Triton on Thursday.

Triton was second with 72 points and Southern Wayne had a team score of 25.

Caleb Scott finished first for the Golden Falcons in the shot put and teammate Devonte Johnson claimed the triple jump. Deven Sanders crossed the line first in the 400 meters. Cade Ivy bested the competition in the 800 meters.

Tyrice Gilbert won the 300 meter hurdles.

Aycock also prevailed in the 1,600- and 3,200-meter relays.

Middle schools

* Soccer: Eastern Wayne 2, Grantham 0 -- Zhane Wade and Morgan Cotton each scored a goal for the Warriors. Amy Baddour recorded one assist. Eastern Wayne (7-2-0 overall) entertains Spring Creek on Apr. 28.
