WINTERVILLE -- John Delaney tossed a complete game and North Lenoir defeated Greene Central 15-7 in the fifth-place game of the Winterville Baseball Bash on Tuesday.

Delaney allowed six runs (one earned) on nine hits with five strikeouts and a walk to pick up the win.

Najee Jackson led the Hawks offense going 4 for 5 at the plate with three RBI. Delaney (2 RBI) and Jackson (RBI) both provided three hits. J.T. Williams (RBI) and Scott Ginn both had two hits.

North Lenoir (6-8 overall) resumes play Tuesday at Eastern Wayne.

Rebels fall short

CLINTON -- Harrells Academy scored in the third, fourth, fifth and sixth innings and slipped past North Duplin 5-4 at the Clinton High School Easter Tournament on Tuesday.

The Rebels scored four runs in the top of the first and were held scoreless the remainder of the ballgame. James Kornegay collected two hits for North Duplin and Marcus Kornegay added a home run and two RBI.

Brian Chase took the loss on the mound allowing four earned runs on seven hits with five strikeouts and three walks in 42/3 innings pitched.

The Rebels (7-2 overall) continue play in the Clinton Easter Tournament at 4:30 p.m. today against Lakewood.

* Baseball: Eastern Wayne 4, New Bern 2 -- Eastern Wayne's Jake May pitched a complete game as the Warriors claimed the Winterville Baseball Bash junior varsity championship Tuesday afternoon.

May, the tournament's most valuable player, allowed two runs (one earned) on five hits. Nolan James contributed two hits for Eastern Wayne.

The Warriors' Benito Avilia, Jeremy Lancaster, Wesley Capps and Ryan Mitchell were named to the all-tournament team.
