MOUNT OLIVE -- Curtis Hudson, who tossed a six-hit shutout in Mount Olive's 4-0 road win against No. 7-ranked Francis Marion, has been named Conference Carolinas baseball pitcher of the week.
The award is the second this year for Hudson.
A junior left-hander from Elgin, Ill., Hudson struck out two and walked one in seven innings for his first complete game of the season. He allowed five singles and just one runner advanced past second base.
Hudson is 5-1 this season with a 4.08 earned run average (ERA).
Darden selected
MOUNT OLIVE -- Mount Olive College pitcher Lauren Darden, who tossed her first collegiate no-hitter, has been selected the Conference Carolinas softball pitcher of the week.
Darden pitched a total of 24 innings in five of the Trojans' eight games last week, and logged a 0.29 ERA. The freshman right-hander threw the "no-no" and then a one-hitter in back-to-back outings against in-state conference rival St. Andrews.
The Southern Wayne alum threw six scoreless innings against Coker and permitted just one run against Anderson. Darden boosted her season strikeout total to 96 and lowered her ERA to 1.27 against conference opposition.
