CALYPSO -- Larry White threw a no-hitter and unbeaten North Duplin sailed past Lakewood 12-0 on Wednesday afternoon.
White recorded five strikeouts in the mercy rule-shortened contest.
Ryan Wolfe paced the North Duplin offense with two doubles. Mithell Thigpen added two hits and Will Lanier chipped in an RBI double.
The Rebels (5-0 overall) launch their Carolina 1-A Conference season at home Friday against Goldsboro.
Eagles prevail
Cody Harris emerged the winning pitcher in Rosewood's 13-7, non-conference victory over East Carteret on Tuesday.
The Eagles dropped a 10-0 decision to Wilson Fike on Thursday.
Rosewood (3-4 overall) begins defense of its Carolina Conference championship at Ayden-Grifton on Friday.
Gators fall
SNOW HILL -- Spring Creek tuned up for its Carolina 1-A Conference season with an 8-7, non-conference loss to Greene Central on Wednesday afternoon.
Dontay Boseman and Hunter Barnette paced the Gators' offense with three hits apiece.
Eric Evans suffered the pitching loss.
The Gators (2-4 overall) travel to Princeton today.

Aycock rolls
BEULAVILLE -- One day after claiming an emotion-filled victory over its archrival, Charles B. Aycock rolled to a 9-0, non-conference decision against East Duplin on Wednesday.
The Golden Falcons remained unbeaten in seven outings this season, and entertain Triton this afternoon.
Saints edge Trojans
FOUR OAKS -- Southern Wayne slipped past Eastern Carolina 3-A Conference newcomer South Johnston 5-4 on Tuesday.
Kobi Hood, Cameron Thames, Brandon Outlaw and Alan Cancellor were each victorious in singles play for the Saints.
The doubles team of Hood-Outlaw also earned a win.
Southern Wayne (6-1 overall, 3-0 ECC) entertains Eastern Wayne today.
Softball
North Duplin downed
CALYPSO -- North Duplin fell behind early and never recovered in a 10-3 loss to Lakewood on Wednesday afternoon.
The Leopards tallied four runs in the third inning to set the tone for the game.
Skylar McCarty tossed six innings in the pitcher's circle and struck out two batters, but was saddled with the loss.
North Duplin (1-4 overall) will play host to Princeton on Tuesday.
Soccer
Warriors roll
ERWIN -- Brandy Dean recorded her second consecutive hat trick (three goals) as Eastern Wayne bested Triton 5-0 in Eastern Carolina 3-A Conference action Wednesday.
Cady May and Lindsay Underwood each added one goal apiece in the victory. Underwood and Janielle Daniel each finished with two assists.
Eastern Wayne (3-4 overall, 2-0) travels to Charles B. Aycock on Monday.
Aycock triumphs
FOUR OAKS -- C.B. Aycock remained unbeaten in Eastern Carolina 3-A Conference play with a 3-0 decision over South Johnston on Wednesday evening.
Jessica Price, Tara Simmons and Samantha Parrish each recorded an unassisted goal for the Golden Falcons.
Goalie Courtney Sheeks logged three saves and earned the shutout.
C.B. Aycock (5-3-1 overall, 2-0 ECC) travels to Rosewood today.
Track & field
Gators prevail
Jade Graham finished in first place in both the long jump and the triple jump to propel Spring Creek to victories over Carolina 1-A rivals Princeton and Goldsboro on Wednesday afternoon.
The Gators scored 75 points, while the Cougars and Dawgs each recorded 31 points.
Melanique DeVeaux added first-place finishes in the high jump and in the 100-yard dash.
Morgan Washington claimed the 100 hurdles for the Gators and Norma Valentin raced home first in the 300 hurdles. Sara Boltinhouse won the 800-yard run.
Golf
Eagles take third
Wayne Christian carded a four-player total of 182 and finished in third place among Carolina 1-A Conference teams at Walnut Creek Country Club on Wednesday afternoon.
Trinity of Durham won the nine-hole match with a 155 total. Cape Fear Christian (172) finished second.
The teams return to action on Monday at Trinity of Durham.
JV sports
* Baseball: Rosewood 14, Wilson Fike 9 -- Josh Pipken and Ian Speight each tallied perfect 3-for-3 nights at the plate for the Eagles. Logan Waters and Talor McGill each added two hits rspectively. Bradon Duren emerged the winning pitcher.
* Baseball: Triton 7, Southern Wayne 3 -- Thomas Kelly finished with one hit and two RBI to pace the Saints (3-3 overall). Colton Chrisman and Taylor Raynor each added one hit and one run scored. Jamar Holmes suffered the loss on the pitcher's mound.
Middle schools
* Baseball: Rosewood 2, Mount Olive 1 -- Reed Howell (RBI), Brent Breedlove and Byrce McKell each had a hit for the Eagles. Rosewood (5-3 overall) visits Grantham today.
