The closure of Wayne County Schools on Tuesday has forced athletics directors into searching for open dates to complete regular-season play in winter sports competition.
Charles B. Aycock's trip to South Johnston has been moved to Thursday. The Golden Falcon varsity boys enter the game ranked No. 9 in the latest NCpreps.com Class 3-A basketball poll.
Other postponements include Rosewood at Goldsboro, North Duplin at Princeton, Spring Creek at Ayden-Grifton, Triton at Eastern Wayne and James Kenan at Midway. Make-up dates were not available at press time.
Aycock will have to wait until Wednesday evening to clinch the Eastern Carolina 3-A Conference dual-team wrestling title outright at county rival Southern Wayne. A victory gives the Golden Falcons the No. 1 seed for the upcoming playoffs, which begin Feb. 9.
County teams are scheduled to return to action Wednesday.
Rosewood entertains Ayden-Grifton to start second-half play on the Carolina 1-A Conference scene. Spring Creek welcomes Princeton, while Aycock plays host to North Lenoir. Southern Wayne travels to ECC newcomer Triton.
