FUQUAY-VARINA -- Faith Christian nearly let a late lead slip away before rallying for a 57-55 win over Hilltop Christian on Monday night.
The Conquerors missed seven free throws in the fourth quarter before cementing the victory.
Faith Christian was paced by Drew Floars' 13-point outing. David Sladick and Chris Powell added 12 and 10 points, respectively.
Faith travels to Berean Baptist tonight.
Chargers squeeze out win
WHITEVILLE -- Adan Hobbs and Tyson Pearson led four players in double figures with 11 and 10 points, respectively, and Wayne Country Day upended Waccamaw Academy 61-57 on Monday evening.
Reco McCarter contributed a double-double -- 10 points, 12 rebounds. Tim Hobbs recorded eight points and 10 rebounds.
The Chargers (13-6 overall) entertain Oakwood on Friday.

Faith falters
FUQUAY-VARINA -- Faith Christian could not overcome a cold shooting night in a 47-35 loss to Hilltop Christian on Monday.
Madison Caudle turned in a strong 20-rebound performance to go along with her team-high 12 points. Elizabeth Weeks added 11 points for the Conquerors.
Faith Christian (7-6 overall) is the guest of Berean Baptist today.

* Boys' basketball: Faith Christian 44, Hilltop Christian 20 -- Faith Christian improved to 9-0 on the season. Wes Caudle led the Conquerors with 10 points. Brandon Jones added six points in the win.
