FOUR OAKS -- Charles B. Aycock emerged victorious in the first five individual matches and pounded South Johnston 63-16 on the Eastern Carolina 3-A Conference wrestling scene Tuesday evening.
It was the Golden Falcons' league opener.
"Our wrestlers took the first step in achieving our primary goal of a conference championship," said Aycock coach Marc Peck. "Individually and as a team we strive to improve each time we hit the mat, and tonight we did just that."
C.B. Aycock (11-4 overall, 1-0 ECC) raced to a 30-point advantage.
Charlie Mills (140 pounds), Jordan Lee (152), Nick Simmons (160) and Kaleb Robinson (171) each pinned their respective opponent. Teammate Aaron Pate earned a disqualification win at 145 pounds over the Trojans.
The Golden Falcons reeled off another five consecutive wins after South Johnston claimed the 189-pound match. Jon Rudolph (215) started the match-clinching surge with a pin, followed by heavyweight Jarrod James.
Mario Darby and David Romo each drew a forfeit at 103 and 112 pounds, respectively. Justin Farrell capped the run with a pin at 119 pounds. After two Trojan wins, Zeb Darden concluded Aycock's conference opener with a pin over Joe Tinker at 135 pounds.
