WILSON -- Charles B. Aycock emerged victorious in the first six individual matches and cruised past Wilson Fike 45-36 on the wrestling mat Tuesday evening.
Jon Rudolph started the Golden Falcons' early-match surge with a come-from-behind victory over Cameron Jernigan at 215 pounds. Jernigan held a 10-3 lead in the third period before Rudolph earned pin with six seconds on the clock.
Heavyweight Jarrod James, 103-pounder Mario Darby and David Romo (112 pounds) followed with wins. Andrew Chambers, filling a void at 119 pounds, and Daniel Romo capped the 33-0 run with back-to-back pins. Chambers replaced returning state qualifier Justin Farrell and pinned the Golden Demons' Tyler Schmitzer in the first period.
"Andrew scored perhaps the most significant victory," said Aycock coach Mark Peck.
The Golden Falcons also collected pins from Aaron Pate (140) and Thomas Podbesek (152), who returned from an early-season knee injury to earn a first-period fall over Justin Goodson.
Fike won six of the final eight matches.
Aycock (5-3 overall) returns to action Friday in a four-team meet at Hunt.
