ROCKY MOUNT -- Wayne Country Day cruised to a 67-35 win at Faith Christian of Rocky Mount on Monday night.
Tim Hobbs led the Chargers with 16 points and Tyson Pearson provided 13. Hil Tanner supplied 10 points and five assists. Reco McCarter had eight points and Rashid Williams added six.
Wayne Country Day (6-4, 1-0 CPIC) is participating in the Cary Academy Invitational Dec. 28-30.
Girls' basketball
Chargers prevail
ROCKY MOUNT -- Sarah Best scored a team-high 13 points to lead Wayne Country Day to 32-25 victory at Faith Christian of Rocky Mount on Monday evening.
Mack Thompson and Catherine Ford both added six points.
The Chargers (3-3) visit Cary Academy tonight.
JV sports
* Boys' basketball: Wayne Country Day 66, Faith-Rocky Mount 57 -- Josiah Davis scored a team-high 27 points for the Chargers (4-1, 1-0 CPIC) and Zach Syverson added 14.
* Girls' basketball: Faith-Rocky Mount 42, Wayne Country Day 3 -- Anna Rains had two points for the Chargers (0-5) and Brooke Neal contributed one point.
Middle schools
* Boys' basketball: Wayne Country Day 40, Faith-Rocky Mount 18 -- Marlon Coley led the Chargers (3-1, 0-1 CPIC) with nine points. Miller Gerrard had five points.
* Girls' basketball: Grantham 45, Brogden 15 -- Grantham's Latrecia Johnson scored a game-high 12 points and Keaton Bradley added 10. Tia Glaspie provided nine points. Ebony Robinson led Brogden with seven points. Grantham (3-3, 2-1 Division II) entertains Rosewood on Thursday.
