MORRISVILLE -- Rosewood High gymnast Sarah Conger finished sixth overall among 75 individuals during a North Carolina state high school meet.
Conger recorded an all-around score of 37.200, including a third-place mark of 9.500 on the floor exercise.

Eagles prevail
WILSON -- Wayne Christian got back on the winning track with a 51-38 victory over Neuse Baptist in the consolation game of the annual Charger Christmas Classic at Wilson Christian Academy on Saturday.
Hanna Kaler earned all-tournament honors thanks to her 13-point outing. Kaler added nine rebounds and four assists to complete her stat sheet.
Kaitlyn Kosuda tallied nine points and nine rebounds for the Eagles. Kayla Kennedy chipped in eight points and five boards.
Wayne Christian returns to action at home Jan. 9, 2010 against Wilson Christian.

Chargers halted
RED SPRINGS -- Doomed by a poor second quarter, Wayne Country Day logged an 82-63 loss at Flora MacDonald Academy on Friday night.
The Chargers grabbed a two-point lead after the opening quarter, but watched as the Patriots exploded for 34 points in the second period.
Tim Hobbs led the Chargers with 22 points and nine rebounds. Reco McCarter added 13 points, while Josh Gregory tallied 10 points.
Wayne Country Day (5-4 overall) travels to Faith of Rocky Mount tonight at 8 p.m.
Eagles dumped
WILSON -- Rocky Mount Academy tallied a 55-37 victory over Wayne Christian in the consolation game of the annual Charger Christmas Classic at Wilson Christian Academy on Satruday.
All-tournament selection Luke Howell led the Eagles with 14 points. Anthony Mulligan added nine points and three steals in the defeat.
Wayne Christian (2-6 overall) will host Trinity of Raleigh on Tuesday.

* Boys' basketball: Wayne Country Day 36, Flora MacDonald 16 -- Josiah Davis pumped in 20 points to pace the Chargers. Wayne Country Day travels to Faith of Rocky Mount tonight.
