Deer tourney deadline is Monday

The Boy Scouts of America Tuscarora Council would like to remind hunters that the deadline to register for the innaugural Deer Hunting Tournament is Monday at 4 p.m.
The council will not be able to accept any late registrations.
"We have had a lot of interest from hunters around the area and we are going to have a large field," Boy Scouts District Executive Mark Metzler. "For being a new idea, we have really gotten a lot of good feedback and we are looking forard to getting started."
The official hunting dates will be Nov. 26-28 and hunters are welcome to hunt anywhere in the state. Weigh-ins will be done at Camp Tuscarora in Four Oaks on Nov. 27-28 from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m.
All rules and regulations imposed by the N.C. Wildlife Resources Commission apply to all hunters taking part in the tournament.
The top prize in the open division is $2,500 for the biggest buck and $1000 for the largest doe. In the youth division (ages 7-15) a $250 top prize will be awarded in each category.
The cost to enter the open division is $75 while the youth division is $10, and each hunter may only participate in one division.
