JV football
* Goldsboro d. Princeton 56-22 -- Karan Alston paced the Cougars with 255 yards rushing and three touchdowns on 12 carries. Jalin Sprueill pitched in 185 yards and two scores on 10 carries. Bernard Cannon, Billy Hamm and Rasheed Rawlings each had rushing touchdowns. Milek Joyner recorded an interception. Goldsboro (8-1, 2-0 CC) clinched at least a share of the Carolina 1-A Conference championship. The Cougars entertain Rosewood next Thursday.
* Southern Wayne d. South Johnston 40-0 -- Tyshawn Vann scored three touchdowns on the ground for the Saints. Keith Jones supplied a rushing touchdown and Jamie Dove caught a pass for a score. Antonio Austin added an interception return for a touchdown. Southern Wayne (3-5, 1-2 ECC) plays host to Eastern Wayne next Thursday.
Middle schools
* Football: Grantham d. Brogden 32-8 -- Xavier Nobles scored on touchdown runs of five and eight yards for Grantham. Rahliek Butler added a 15-yard touchdown recpetion and also hauled in a two-point conversion. Dennis Register tacked on a 24-yard run for a score and Tony Fields had a 10-yard touchdown reception. Blake Grady recovered a pair of fumbles. Grantham (3-3, 3-0 Division II) concludes its season next Thursday at Mount Olive.
* Football: Mount Olive d. Rosewood 26-14 -- Nathan Barwick and Ty Pearsall both rushed for over 100 yards and scored two touchdowns for Mount Olive. Barwick and Clayton Cashmere both recorded eight tackles. Pearsall contributed six tackles and a fumble recovery. Jalen Bennett made six stops and had an interception. Mount Olive (3-3, 2-1 Division II) plays host to Grantham next Thursday.
* Football: Greenwood d. Norwayne 6-0 -- Rasheed Mallete scored the game's only touchdown. Greenwood (5-1 overall) entertains Dillard next Thursday.
