County players hold court today

WILSON -- Ten players from Wayne County serve it up today in the N.C. High School Athletic Association Class 3-A eastern regional women's tennis tournament at Barton College.
Leading the group is Eastern Wayne's tandem of Danielle Daniel-Warner Underwood, which captured the Eastern Carolina Conference doubles title less than a week ago. Joining them are the duo of Amber Miller-Grace Delbridge and two singles players -- Miller Delbridge and Janielle Daniel.
Charles B. Aycock will have four representatives.
The tandem of Abbey Strickland-Katie Gurley will compete in doubles. Hollie Baker and Ashley Howell qualified on the singles scene.
First-round play begins at 2 p.m. today with the semifinals and finals slated for Saturday. The top four finishers in singles and doubles advances to the NCHSAA Championships next weekend in Burlington.
