SNOW HILL -- Charles B. Aycock scored four times in the first half and cruised to a 5-1 victory over Greene Central on Wednesday afternoon.

Chama Rodriguez and David Burke each netted two goals in the first half. Chase Thompson added the Golden Falcons' fifth goal midway through the second half.

Charles B. Aycock (4-2 overall) entertains Rosewood on Tuesday at 7 p.m.

Tennis

Warriors triumph

RED OAK -- Eastern Wayne dominated singles play en route to a 7-2 non-conference tennis victory over Northern Nash on Tuesday.

Miller Delbridge set the tone for the Warriors with a 6-3, 6-3 victory over Emily Moedl at No. 2 singles. Janielle Daniel, Grace Delbridge, Warner Underwood and Jackie Johnson each added one point apiece.

The tandems of Daniel-Miller Delbridge and Grace Delbridge-Johnson each won their respective matches in doubles play.

Eastern Wayne (3-3 overall) travels to Rocky Mount Academy today at 4 p.m.

Falcons falter

PIKEVILLE -- Wilson Fike stole the early momentum and cruised to a 9-0 victory over Charles B. Aycock in non-conference tennis action on Wednesday.

Katie Gurley played a stout singles match against Fike's Emily Rhyne before falling in a tiebreaker 4-6, 6-2, 11-9.

The Golden Falcons (3-4 overall) visit Rocky Mount today.

JV sports

* Soccer: Wayne Country Day d. Parrot Academy 5-1 -- Wyatt Bland scored two goals as the Chargers' offense stole the show. Tae Yang Kim, Jack Langston and Holden Edwards each added one marker in the win.

* Volleyball: North Duplin d. Hobbton 18-25, 25-21, 25-18 -- Jessica Jones tallied six service aces for the Rebels. Ansley Hill dished out four assists and Alonna Pate tallied three kills. The Rebels improved to 2-2 overall.

* Volleyball: Princeton d. C.B. Aycock 25-18, 25-17 -- The Dawgs will host South Johnston today.
