GREENVILLE -- Jesse Randolph regrouped after a rough second inning and shut down Pitt County 39 on Wednesday evening.

A right-hander, Randolph appeared in relief and scattered four hits during a four-inning stretch as Wayne County Post 11 claimed a 20-10, seven-inning victory at Pitt Community College.

Wayne County (8-4 overall) improved to 5-2 in Area I East South Division play and entertains long-time nemesis New Bern today. First pitch is 7 p.m. at Scarborough Field on the Mount Olive College campus.

Pitt 39 plated nine runs in the first two innings against starter Will Broadwell and Randolph. Using an effective breaking pitch, Randolph stopped the bleeding and held Pitt 39 scoreless in three of four innings.

Matt Neal threw a scoreless seventh.

Every Wayne County starter recorded at least one hit in the mercy-rule affair. Cody Richards batted 4-for-6 with two RBI, while Cambric Moye homered in a 2-for-5, five-RBI effort.

Nick McGee logged Legion bests with four hits and three RBI. Tyler Edwards, John Wooten, Robert Faucette and Zack Mozingo contributed two hits apiece.

Josh Frederick and Colton Fulghum each provided one hit.

Post 11 erupted for seven runs in the fourth inning and induced the mercy rule with an eight-run, seventh-inning uprising. The final offensive explosion began auspiciously with Fulghum getting caught stealing second base and Richards popping out to the catcher.

Mozingo singled, Frederick walked and Edwards ripped a two-strike hit to score Mozingo. Moye followed with his second homer of the season, a three-run blast that sailed over the left field fence.

Wayne County played error-free defense, while Pitt 39 committed six defensive miscues. Post 11 also forced its division foe to use six pitchers in the contest.
