David Thornton football camp coming back to Goldsboro

For the past three years, NFL linebacker David Thornton -- a native of Goldsboro and a University of North Carolina-Chapel Hill graduate -- has partnered with the Boys & Girls Club of Wayne County and several local businesses to provide a memorable camp experience for hundreds of youth from Goldsboro and surrounding communities.

The fourth annual David Thornton Football Camp is scheduled for June 27 at Goldsboro High School and is free of charge to interested youth ages 8-18.

With the help of local businesses, this camp offers Wayne County youth ages 8-18 the opportunity to enjoy a unique camp experience free of charge. Registration forms are currently available at the Boys & Girls Club of Wayne County and all participants must be pre-registered.

"Every year I look forward to coming home and hosting my camp. I love seeing the kids enjoying themselves while learning about a sport I love and doing something positive with their time," said Thornton.

Entering his eighth year in the National Football League, Thornton recognizes that he has been blessed to play the game that he loves for a living. He values the opportunity to share his gift with others and give back to the community.

This free camp is just one way that he hopes to positively impact the lives of youth in Wayne County and encourage them to become CHAMPions.
