CALYPSO -- Haile Meadows threw a one-hit shutout and Rosewood remained on course for its first Carolina 1-A Conference regular-season softball championship since 2001 on Monday evening.

Meadows logged 10 strikeouts in the pitcher's circle as the Eagles upended North Duplin 10-0 in a six-inning affair. Rosewood (11-4 overall) climbed to 6-2 in conference play heading into today's home game with Ayden-Grifton.

Kayla Ormond and Jennifer Hall pounded out two hits apiece for the Eagles. Meadows, Kaitlyn Armer, Megann Tyndall, Alyssa Spell and Paige Babb each contributed one hit.

Caitlin Davis had the Rebels' lone hit.

Ansley Hill endured the mound defeat for North Duplin.

The Rebels (5-13, 2-7 CC) travel to defending conference champion North Johnston in the regular-season finale for both teams today.

Rosewood concludes regular-season play at home Thursday against archrival Princeton. A win over Ayden-Grifton keeps the Eagles in position to claim just their fourth league title in program history.
