KENLY -- Rosewood picked up its second signature win of the season in a three-day period, defeating reigning Carolina 1-A Conference champion North Johnston 7-1 on Thursday evening.

The Eagles bested the Panthers 1-0 on Tuesday.

"It was an awesome game," said Rosewood coach Tracie Meadows.

Jennifer Hall, Caitlyn Armor, Christina Bruton, Kayla Ormond and Megan Tyndall provided one hit apiece in the road win.

Haile Meadows emerged the winning pitcher. The senior right-hander recorded six strikeouts and yielded one walk in a complete-game performance.

Rosewood (9-4 overall, 4-2 CC) entertains Spring Creek today.

G. Central rolls

TARBORO -- Greene Central hammered Eastern Plains 2-A Conference rival Tarboro 14-0 on Thursday night.

Peri Dail contributed three hits for the Rams. Megan Lovett added two hits and three RBI.

Jessica Moore picked up the win on the mound.

Greene Central plays host to Farmville Central on Tuesday.

Baseball

Rams victorious

SNOW HILL -- Greene Central slipped past Eastern Plains 2-A Conference opponent Tarboro 7-6 on Thursday night.

Will Bynum, Stephen McDonald, Alex Brann, David Stallings and Jasper Jones each had a hit for the Rams.

Wes Sowers earned the win on the mound.

Greene Central (13-8 overall, 6-2 EPC) visits Farmville Central on Tuesday.

CBA pounds Saints

PIKEVILLE -- Charles B. Aycock celebrated senior night with a 5-0 thumping of Southern Wayne on Thursday evening.

Samantha Parrish scored twice for the Golden Falcons. Senior Caitlin Richards also found the back of the net along with Jessica Price and Caroline Schlaeppi. Charlie Ipock and Taylor DeMartini added assists.

Aycock held a 31-6 advantage in shots on goal and Golden Falcons keeper Courtney Sheeks recorded six saves.

Aycock (9-6-2 overall, 5-4-1 ECC) begins Eastern Carolina 3-A Conference tournament play at home on Tuesday.

Dawgs crush NJ

KENLY -- Madison Parker collected two goals as league-leading Princeton defeated county archrival North Johnston 5-0 in Carolina 1-A Conference action.

Morgan Brush, Maegan Hewett and Olivia Booker added one goal apiece in the victory.

Princeton recorded its eighth shutout of the season.

The Dawgs (11-3-0 overall, 4-0-0 CC) entertain Spring Creek on Monday.

Tennis

Chargers down GF

WILSON -- Wayne Country Day captured four out of six singles points and fought off Greenfield for a 5-4 victory at the Barton College tennis courts on Thursday afternoon.

The victory was the Chargers' first in Coastal Plains Independent 1-A Conference play this season.

Michael Knuston, Jack Langston, Zach Phillips and Douglas Williams were each singles winners for Wayne Country Day. The doubles team of Thomas Elmore-Langston was also victorious.

The Chargers (3-8 overall, 1-5 CPIC) begin play in the CPIC tournament on May 8 at Kerr-Vance Academy in Henderson.

Track

Cougars finish third

FARMVILLE -- Goldsboro finished third in an Eastern Plains 2-A Conference tri-meet against host Farmville Central and Tarboro on Thursday.

The Jaguars compiled 77 team points while the Vikings tallied 55 points. The Cougars recorded 42 points.

Cortez Sprangle earned a first place finish in the 300-meter hurdles, while Mikeil Wilson finished first in the 200 meters. Goldsboro' 200-, 400- and 800-meter relays each recorded first-place times.

The EPC Championships are Wednesday at North Pitt.

Middle schools

* Baseball: Norwayne 9, Wayne Country Day 0 -- Dylan Hinnant and Dustin Price both collected triples for Norwayne. Price, Logan Runyan and Adam Pate combined to toss a three-hit shutout. Norwayne (13-0 overall) will look to complete its undefeated season on Monday at Eastern Wayne.

* Soccer: Eastern Wayne 3, Spring Creek 0 -- Ann Reed Hulse scored twice for the Warriors and Kayla Wiebe added a goal. Grace Delbridge and Zhane Wade both contributed assists. Eastern Wayne (5-1-1 overall) travels to Grantham on Monday while Spring Creek visits Grantham on Wednesday.

* Softball: Rosewood 5, Grantham 3 -- Scout Anderson, Amanda Beckert and Myra Gerrell had two hits apiece for the Eagles. Beckert recorded nine strikeouts in the pitcher's circle. Rosewood (9-2 overall, 7-0 WCMSAC Division II) visits Spring Creek on Monday.
