GREENVILLE -- Need a few points to make your coastal fishing experience more fun and productive?

The Greenville Parks and Recreation Department might have your answer.

The GPRD and three organizations -- Sea Striker, Star Rods and Overton's -- are sponsoring two saltwater fishing seminars on May 12 and 13 at River Park North on Mumford Road.

Captain Jimmy Price of Southport will speak on inshore saltwater fishing on May 12. Although flounder fishing is his specialty, Price will also discuss fishing for speckled trout and red drum. He'll provide tips on the latest lures, baits and techniques -- along with some humor -- for catching that prized lunker.

Captain Jerry Dilsaver of Oak Island, a successful king mackerel tournament fisherman, will share his knowledge about several species of fish -- Spanish mackerel, tuna, dolphin and wahoo. An award-winning angler, Dilsaver will provide insight on tackle and technique, location and feeding preferences of the afore-mentioned fish.

Each session will include information on equipment, rigging, bait and lure preferences along with favorable locations for catching popular coastal saltwater fish. It's a fisherman's final tune-up before the season gets into full swing.

The seminar begins each day at 7 p.m. and will end approximately about 9:30. Breaks will be offered to procure refreshments or to ask the speakers questions. The fee is $40 for both evenings and $25 for a single session. Included is a goody bag of samples and information, and door prizes.

Space is limited, but participants will be allowed to register as long as seats are available. For more information, telephone (910) 279-6760 or (252) 329-4562.
