KINSTON -- Greene Central never got its offense going during a 3-0 loss to West Carteret in the championship game of the George Whitfield Invitational on Wednesday at Kinston High School.
Zach Chase and Trent Murray each finished with a double for the Rams. David Stallings added a 1-for-3 effort.
Justin Everett took the hard-luck loss on the mound. Everett allowed two earned runs on four hits.
Greene Central (10-7 overall) entertains three-time defending Eastern Plains 2-A Conference champion North Lenoir on Tuesday. First pitch is 7 p.m. at the James "Rabbit" Fulghum Athletic Complex.
Game changed
SNOW HILL -- Wet field conditions forced the postponement of Wednesday's non-conference matchup between area softball rivals Charles B. Aycock and Greene Central.
The teams will play today in Snow Hill at 5 p.m.
Upon conclusion of the game, the Rams will face Wilson Beddingfield at approximately 7 p.m.
