MOUNT OLIVE -- Sophia Medeiros won at No. 4 singles as Mount Olive swept doubles play and captured five singles wins for an 8-1 win over Barton in Conference Carolinas women's tennis Friday at Walker Tennis Center.
The match puts the Trojans in a three-way tie for first in conference standings with Erskine and Lees-McRae.
On the men's side of the match, the Trojans held off a late charge to earn a win.
Diogo Sender and Diogo Miranda rallied from a 7-4 deficit for a win at No. 3 doubles as Mount Olive withstood a comeback for a 5-4 victory over Barton in Conference Carolinas men's tennis Friday at Walker Tennis Center.
The Trojans won all three doubles matches before Barton rallied in singles play, taking Nos. 1, 2, 3, and four. Then the two Diogos, Sender at No. 5 and Miranda at No. 6, both captured straight-set singles wins to break a 3-3 tie.
Mount Olive returns to action Monday when the Trojans travel to Gaffney, S.C. to take on Limestone in a Conference Carolinas regular season finale. Match time is 1 p.m.
