WHITE LAKE -- Riley Boyette broke a 12-year-old school record with a 6-under par 66 and finished fifth overall at the Carolina Sands Intercollegiate contested at the Carolina Sands Golf Club.

Boyette helped Mount Olive place third out of 16 teams during the 36-hole event. The Trojans posted a four-player score of 578, which included a second-day 6-under team round.

Coker defeated Barton in a playoff for the title.

A sophomore from Princeton, Boyette eclipsed the MOC record set by Steven Anderson in 1997 and equaled five times. Scott Woodard, another Princeton grad, JUCO transfer Ryan Campbell and Mick Moberg also tied the mark.

Boyette followed his opening-round 75 with the lowest 18-hole score of the tournament and carded a 3-under 141 for 36 holes. He also tied for the fourth-lowest, 36-hole score in MOC men's golf history.

Fabrizio Ceppi (145) tied for 13th, while Campbell (146) shared 18th place. Pete Skirpstas (150) and Woodard (151) tied for 30th and 36th, respectively.

Four of five MOC golfers shot one round under par.

Boyette emerged the second Trojan linkster to set an 18-hole record in a six-day span. Valentina Urquiola fashioned an 18-hole score of 73, the best round in MOC women's golf history, during the J. Ralph Hargett Invitational at Wingate University.

The men's golf team returns to action April 19-21 at the season-ending Conference Carolinas Championships at Tanglewood Golf Club in Clemmons.
