SEVEN SPRINGS -- Spring Creek pounded out 15 hits in a 14-4, non-conference baseball victory over county foe Wayne Christian on Monday evening.

Chris Boseman batted 4-for-4 and tallied four RBI. Corey Howell, Steven Best and Paul Hayes each notched three hits for the Gators.

Duane Gurganus picked up his third win of the season on the mound.

Spring Creek (5-3 overall) plays host to Greene Central today.

Rebels ousted

CALYPSO -- Midway used a nine-run, sixth inning charge to overpower North Duplin 13-3 on Monday.

Shayne Deaver led the Rebels with two hits and two stolen bases.

Gibby Allen earned the win on the mound for Midway. Allen tossed three innings and allowed just one hit. Allen also helped his cause offensively with three hits and six RBI.

North Duplin (3-5 overall) is the guest of Midway today.

Softball

Faith prevails

Faith Christian opened its season with a 7-4 victory over Teach Homeschool on Monday.

Brooke Anderson paced the Conquerors at the plate with three hits, including a triple. Jennifer Christopher, Alyssa Hill and Brittany Dail each added two hits in the win.

The Conquerors (1-0 overall) visit Liberty Christian today.

Rebels defeated

CALYPSO -- Pitcher Whitney Johnson logged 15 strikeouts in a complete-game effort as Midway turned back North Duplin 5-1 on Monday afternoon.

Ansley Hill led the Rebels with two hits, including a double. Hannah Brock, Caitlin Davis, Skylar McCarty and Tearra Ammons each added one hit.

Hill threw a complete game, struck out two and only walked one in the pitching loss.

North Duplin (2-4 overall) travels to Midway today.

Tennis

Eagles roll

Wayne Christian dominated from the opening serve en route to a 9-0 victory over county archrival Wayne Country Day on Tuesday.

Taylor Gray, Christopher Easom, David Glover, Woody Sasser, Kenneth Giordano and Mathew Thompson each earned a singles point for the Eagles.

The duos of Gray-Easom, Glover-Sasser and Giordano Thompson swept the doubles matches.

Wayne Country Day (1-3 overall) entertains Arendell-Parrott Academy on Thursday.

Golf

Hunt first again

WILSON -- Wilson Hunt continued to dominate the Eastern Carolina 3-A Conference men's golf scene on Monday afternoon at Wedgewood Gold Club.

The Warriors fired a four-man total of 327 and captured first place for the third consecutive meet. Beddingfield finished second with a 335.

Eastern Wayne ended up third at 344. Ryan Lake and Matt Baker each shot an 18-hole round of 84 to lead the Warriors' effort. Keith Gregorcyk carded an 85, while Carson Daly and Caleb Jones each notched a 91.

Chris Best led Southern Wayne (370) with an 83. Will Bunch and John Graham each fired a 94. Johnathan Lawhorn concluded the Saints' scoring with a 99.

Charles B. Aycock recorded a team score of 409. C.P. Cranford carded an 84 to lead the Golden Falcons. Chase Parnell added an 88. Ian McClanahan and Jeremy Lipscomb also factored into Aycock's team score.

The teams return to action Monday at Falling Creek CC in Kinston.

JV sports

* Softball: Wayne Christian 16, Harrells Christian 1 -- Rachael McCollum pitched a complete game on the mound as Wayne Christian dominated Harrells Christian on Monday. McCollum struck out 10 batters over five innings and allowed just two hits. Reagan Hinton delivered a home run and Carly Hightower notched a double in the win. The Eagles improved to 2-0 overall.

Middle schools

* Baseball: Norwayne 16, Eastern Wayne 6 -- Norwayne improved to 5-0 on the season with a convincing win over rival Eastern Wayne on Monday. Logan Brown and Jordan Lee each recorded three hits in the victory. Adam Pate, Hunter Jone and Justin Price each added two hits. Pate earned the win on the mound.

* Baseball: Rosewood 16, Spring Creek 5 -- Brandon Duren batted 3-for-3 with two triples for the Eagles and threw a one-hitter on the mound. Brent Breedlove, John Winslow and Tyler Folk pounded out two hits apiece. Rosewood (4-1 overall) improved to 3-0 against Wayne County Middle School Athletic Conference Division II opposition this season.

* Softball: Grantham 8, Mount Olive 0 -- Taylor Parker recorded 20 striekouts as Grantham bested Mount Olive on Monday. Parker and Taylor Davis each tallied three hits in the win. Hope Rose reached base twice for the Bulldogs. Katy Heirling notched Mount Olive's only hit.
