DUDLEY -- Greene Central came out swinging and never slowed down in a 15-4, non-conference win over Southern Wayne on Friday.

Jasper Grant provided the power in the middle of the Rams' lineup with a two-run home run. Derek Grant added two hits and four RBI. Justin Everett also finished with four RBI in the win.

Greene Central (2-0 overall) visits Kinston on Tueday, while Southern Wayne (1-2) entertains East Duplin on Monday.

Gators bite Midway

SEVEN SPRINGS -- Spring Creek defeated Midway 11-4 on Friday afternoon.

Lucas Potter finished 3-for-3 with two doubles and two RBI. Steven Best added two hits and two RBI. Zach Harrell belted a double in the win.

Paul Hayes stymied the Raiders' offense for four innings en route to the win on the mound. Ricky Brayboy pitched three innings of solid relief and struck out five batters.

Spring Creek (1-1 overall) travels to Hobbton on Monday.

Rebels fall

CALYPSO -- Clinton never let North Duplin get going offensively en route to a 5-0 win on Friday.

Marcus Kornegay and Ryan Wolfe each finished with one hit for the Rebels.

North Duplin (0-2) entertains Union on Tuesday.

Eagles soar

Rosewood found its offensive rhythm in a 29-1 victory over Goldsboro on Friday.

The victory was the second in a row for the Eagles, who topped Farmville 3-1 on Thursday afternoon.

Matt Neal and Trevor Cox each earned a win on the mound.

Softball

Aycock prevails

WINTERVILLE -- Charles B. Aycock picked up its third win in three days with a 3-1 decision over South Central on Friday afternoon.

Cynthia Burroughs paced the Golden Falcons at the plate with three hits and two RBI. Torie Benton went 2-for-4 with a double, and Amber Baker finished with one hit in two at-bats.

Burroughs went the distance in the pitcher's circle to earn the win. The hard-throwing senior allowed just three hits and struck out six batters.

The Golden Falcons (3-0 overall) are the guests of North Lenoir on Monday.

Rebels win thriller

CALYPSO -- North Duplin scored eight runs in the bottom of the first inning and held on to beat Clinton 15-14 in eight innings on Friday afternoon.

Kailey Odom drew a walk in the home half of the eighth frame and was plated by an Ashley Cartwright base hit. Cartwright finished 4-for-5 on the night with four RBI.

Caitlyn Davis tallied three hits and one RBI in the win. Tearrra Amons also finished with two hits and scored two runs. Alonna Pate reached base twice and drove in two runs.

Ansley Hill pitched the final 3 2/3 innings to earn the win in the pitcher's circle.

North Duplin (1-1 overall) goes to Union on Tuesday.

Rosewood rolls

FARMVILLE -- Rosewood opened its softball season with a 7-3 victory over Farmville Central on Thursday afternoon.

Hailey Meadows tallied seven strikeouts in the complete-game victory on the rubber.

Kayla Orman led the Eagles' offense with two hits and three RBI. Kaitlyn Armor added three hits. Christina Bruton added one hit and drove in one run. Alyssa Spell also recorded an RBI.

Rosewood (1-0 overall) travels to Wilson Fike on Tuesday.

Soccer

Falcons tied

PIKEVILLE -- C.B. Aycock and North Lenoir battled to a 3-3 tie on the Hardy Talton Stadium pitch Friday evening.

After the Hawks jumped out to an early lead, Golden Falcons forward Caroline Schlaeppi knotted the affair with a first-half goal.

Alma Islas gave the Falcons their first lead after the intermission and Schlaeppi tallied an insurance goal on an assist from Yzela Palma.

North Lenoir battled back in the closing minutes and evened the game before the final whistle.

C.B. Aycock (1-0-1 overall) will play host to Wilson Fike on Tuesday.

JV sports

* Baseball: Greene Central 8, Southern Wayne 1 -- C.J. Faulkner finished a perfect 3-for-3 as Greene Central bested Southern Wayne on Friday. Will Crandle added two hits and two RBI for the Rams. Kyle McLawhorn got the mound win. Breyon Johnson knotched the Saints' only extra-base hit with a double. Greene Central will host Ayden-Grifton on Thursday.

* Soccer: C.B. Aycock 1, North Lenoir 0 -- Chelsey Cox scored the game's only goal as the Golden Falcons bested the Hawks on Friday. C.B. Aycock (1-1 overall) travels to Princeton on March 13.
